Listen to this article

Speaking on Thursday at Masuku Primary School in Traditional Authority (T/A) Somba, Blantyre when Genet launched ‘Learn Without Fear’ project, the organisation’s project officer Mercy Mituka said there are many cases where teachers have, among other vices, been impregnating pupils thereby dooming the future of innocent girls.—FRANCIS NUNDWE, Correspondent

Fishermen advised to wear life jackets

Malawi Police Service (MPS) has advised fishermen on Lake Malawi to always wear life jackets to prevent deaths caused by drowning. Speaking in an interview yesterday, Nkhata Bay Police officer-in-charge Scotland Mvulayagunda said fishermen should also follow weather forecasts presented by meteorological experts. 12 fishermen died in the district last week following heavy Mwera winds on the lake. —Mana
